Sunlight Chalet already boasts a generous 3,500 square feet of living space inside however, the there is plenty more outdoor living space on the property to be enjoyed. Downstairs on the garden level, is the hot tub, just a few short steps from the door. It too is covered so you can enjoy watching the snow fall without it piling on your head.

Mid-summer night's dreaming about Steamboat's powder

Mid-summer night's dreaming about Steamboat's powder

Have you had any powder dreams yet? I know it’s July and you are planning a Bar-B-Q for the Fourth, but is that not the perfect time to talk to your family and friends about this winter’s ski trip to Steamboat?

All the snow has melted and summer is beautiful here in the ‘Boat, however we have been busy here at Moving Mountains Chalets getting ready for winter.  In the last two months we have added five new properties to our inventory and we have at least three more on the way. That is why we are already dreaming about powder - we cannot wait for this season to come as it may be one of our best ever!

Edgemont - Pinnacle Ridge is new for 2010-2011

Edgemont - Pinnacle Ridge is new for 2010-2011

And now a word about snow. Everyone wants to know what kind of a snow year it will be, everyone expects we can look into our crystal ball and see a future of flurries like a snow globe.  Well, we are happy to report that according to Steamboat’s snowfall statistics often a year of low snow totals is followed by one with high snow totals -  so that means we are due for another epic year. No guarantees of course!

One thing we can accurately predict: if you plan your trip to Steamboat now, you will find the perfect place to meet all the needs of your group.

Argientiere living room is open and airy

Argentiere living room is open and airy

We like to “move mountains” for our guests. Over the last few years many people have asked for smaller accommodations to fit their needs. Ask and you shall receive! We are pleased to announce the addition of two Chateau Chamonix three-bedroom residences, and they are just steps away from the slopes!

Spacious fully equipped kitchen

Always considered one of the premiere ski-in, ski-out properties, Chateau Chamonix recently built a third building on their property. We feature two premier condominiums with many recent upgrades within this new building: Argentiere and Montroc, named after two of the villages near Chamonix, France.

Both Argentiere and Montroc are on the top floor. Vaulted ceilings create an inviting airy atmosphere to compliment their fine finishes and furnishings found throughout the unit. No need to worry about lugging the ski equipment upstairs, a ski locker room is provided on the ground floor.  And because they are on the top floor, both residences have views overlooking the surrounding mountain village.

Master bedrooms have access to the balcony

In addition to the ski locker, other amenities at Chateau Chamonix include a fitness room on the first floor, and an indoor/outdoor pool on the premises.  Two outdoor hot tubs are also on the property.

These two properties are sure to be in great demand this winter. In addition to being ski-in, ski-out they are an excellent value. No time like the present for planning your Steamboat Springs ski vacation!

A River Runs Through It – Steamboat Springs fun down by the river

Summer on the Yampa, ski area in the background

Summer on the Yampa, ski area in the background

Summer in a ski town is an experience that is hard to beat. If you only venture to the mountains in the winter to get your ski fix, you really should see how the other half lives, and plays. The only negative to summers in Steamboat Springs is trying to find the time to pack it all in, and that’s why we can only blog about it in pieces. Today’s piece is dedicated to one of my favorite amenities/geographic features: The Yampa River.

As I rode my bike along River Road, I snapped these photos with my phone to capture moments along the river. All summer long this area is bustling with activity. All along the Yampa River Core Trail there are parks, benches, picnic tables and even a few beaches leading to swimming holes.

Cool off in the Yampa!

Cool off in the Yampa!

I continued my ride on River Road , which then turns into Howelsen Parkway by the ice rink. By the way, if you are looking for a way to cool off, you could go ice skating at the Howelsen Ice Arena - no risk of sunburn in there! Or, the other great way to cool off is to get in the river. Tale a kayak lesson with the Mountain Sports Kayak School. Or float down the river in a tube.

Dine by the Yampa at Sweet Pea

Dine by the Yampa at Sweet Pea

Once downtown, Yampa Street offers a number of outfitters who can rent you tubes for a float. Or if you prefer not getting wet, you can find a number of restaurants along the river. You can also rent a bike and enjoy riding along the Core Trail which stretches 7 miles along the river and connects to other bike paths around town.

This is just a quick look at life along the Yampa River on any given summer day. Pictures do not do it justice, you should come and experience it for yourself!
